Most of you must be wondering how this fried chicken is healthy? Well when the lockdown began, I was exploring some chicken recipes and came across my friend, Arun Anandan's WhatsApp story status. I saw that the chicken looked like the ones found in KFC and the outlets were closed that time (my chicken fry looks different though). So while having conversation, he shared the recipe with me and I gave it a try.
It had some healthy things which made it a high protein, medium carbs and medium fat meal. So it's a healthy fried chicken which you can give a try in one-off days.
Nutritional Value (can vary as per chicken size and quantity of other things)
Protein: 49gms
Carbs: 52gms
Fats: 36gms
Total calories: 720 cal (approx for 3 drumsticks)
Ingredients:
Chicken Drumsticks - 3 piece
Egg - 1 (Optional)
Plain Oats - 30gms
All purpose flour - 20gms
Onion-Garlic paste - 2 tablespoon
Oil, Salt, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Power, Chilli Powder as per need.
Method:
1. Wash the Chicken Drumsticks and keep it aside.
2. In a bowl, add all purpose flour.
3. Add salt, turmeric, chilli and coriander powder.
4. Mix the ingredients.
5. Add chicken drumsticks.
6. Add onion-garlic paste.
7. Add whole egg.
8. Mix again.
9. Now in a plate, spread the plain oats and coat the chicken drumsticks.
10. Heat the oil in a pan.
11. Fry the coated chicken legs.
Serve it hot with your favorite beverage (I used non-alcoholic beer)
Note: I was running out of oats, so I added suji to coat the chicken, hence its looking different. You can use other parts of chicken as well.
